Radia Tapes-Poor News Sense

If I was the employing the services of very costly journalists like Ms Barkha Dutt or Mr Vir Sanghvi, I would not have hesitated for a moment to fire them after the revelations of so called Raida tape, they just doesn't deserve the money which they get.

Don't mistaken me, I have nothing to say about morality of journalist acting as couriers or not acting or simply trying to extract more information by stringing the source. Each one has own moral standards by which he or she judges others.
A twenty something a boy or girl, just out of the journalism school would have done much better job of the info to which Ms Dutt and Mr. Sanghvi had access. Isn't it fucking biggest political story of the decade or even century, how corporate lobbyist are getting involved in the activity of government formation and when you know for sure due to stand off between Congress and DMK, process of government formation is getting protracted. Isn't it your job to put the story on air or in print ASAP?.
But what we get only lame excuses from the Ms Dutt and Mr Sanghvi i.e. they never carried on the message to the people which Ms Radia wanted them to convey, so they are innocent.

But what about your poor news judgement? Don't you think you owe an explnation on this count to at least all those boys and girls in journalism schools and aspire to be one day 'great' journalists like you?

  1. Good for boysandgirls in journalism school, they will learn to suspect everyone, from top down. We were a bit starry-eyed when we started.

  3. Good that u wrote this Makrand. In India there are some journalists who have grown larger than life for no reason. I would describe this as ... ghode ko nahi milti ghaas, ghade kha rahe hai chyavanprash! And these are the most glorified journalists of out country. Padmashree!!!!!

  4. Makrand, welcome to the blog world. Must say, the real scam lies somewhere else, which the government buried successfully. We are discussing a non-issue here. Just as we are blaming Barkha for not recognising the real story we should now accuse ourselves of looking for red herrings.
