Sau me nabbe baiman fir bhi mera Bharat Mahan

The Marxist interpretation of the history tell us history repeats itself first as a tragedy and then as a farce but in the fist act of so-called sampoorna kranti (total revolution) led by Jaiprakash Narayan in seventies itself culminated in the tragedy of emergency and led us to the farce called Janata government.

So we will have to wait and watch, where this second act of revolution (media adjective) launched by Anna Hazare and orchestrated by the likes of Arvind Kejriwal and company leads us to? However I rather hope it leads us to farce and not tragedy.

But more than whether cause is justified, whether means are justified, whether Anna’s act is sheer blackmailing, does it challenge the authority of elected government or not?, Time has come for us in middle class who are disgusted or at least pretend to be disgusted by the corruption to ask some honest hard hitting questions to ourselves and introspect.

Some might find questions I want to pose to my fellow middle class people as too simplistic or comparing chalk and cheese but I think if we answer the questions honestly, we will get answers to problem of corruption about which we express our disgust and helplessness at the same time?

How many of us stop at red light even if there is no traffic policeman in the sight?

If we are caught by policeman for jumping the signal or violating the No Entry, how many of us try to get away by paying some bribe or by flaunting our connections, instead of paying fine?

How many of my fellow professionals from middle class like doctors, lawyers, accountants, architects or even well-off traders, businessmen, industrialists etc. declare their correct income and pay right amount of income tax, service tax, VAT or any other tax which is due to the state from us?.

And majority of us who are salaried have no choice but pay the tax and if we also had the choice, we would have also done the same thing. So no point in making virtue out of compulsion.

And I can answer without blinking a eyelid that answer is emphatic no. So as they say people get the government they deserve, we get the politicians we deserve. They are not some ETs came from distant galaxy to rule us and while all of us remain morally bankrupt, they are some kind of paragon virtues.

And nothing can’t be more naive than to believe that so called Jan Lokpal who is going to perform the roles of investigator, prosecutor and judge at the same time and is not going to be susceptible to pressures, allurements and temptations to which our elected representatives are, to whom we the people of India elect through ballet or more than often elect them by not casting our votes.

Radia Tapes-Poor News Sense

If I was the employing the services of very costly journalists like Ms Barkha Dutt or Mr Vir Sanghvi, I would not have hesitated for a moment to fire them after the revelations of so called Raida tape, they just doesn't deserve the money which they get.

Don't mistaken me, I have nothing to say about morality of journalist acting as couriers or not acting or simply trying to extract more information by stringing the source. Each one has own moral standards by which he or she judges others.
A twenty something a boy or girl, just out of the journalism school would have done much better job of the info to which Ms Dutt and Mr. Sanghvi had access. Isn't it fucking biggest political story of the decade or even century, how corporate lobbyist are getting involved in the activity of government formation and when you know for sure due to stand off between Congress and DMK, process of government formation is getting protracted. Isn't it your job to put the story on air or in print ASAP?.
But what we get only lame excuses from the Ms Dutt and Mr Sanghvi i.e. they never carried on the message to the people which Ms Radia wanted them to convey, so they are innocent.

But what about your poor news judgement? Don't you think you owe an explnation on this count to at least all those boys and girls in journalism schools and aspire to be one day 'great' journalists like you?

An open letter to Ms Arundhati Roy-Please take up cause of Balochistan also

Dear Ms Roy
You are considered to be most vociferous and articulate spokesperson of the oppressed and downtrodden of the world and you can be only compared with likes of Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela at least I don't have any doubt about it.

And as you consider yourself global citizen and not the citizen of oppressive and retrograde country like India, I have humble suggestion for you, there is worthy cause waiting for you across our Western border.
And I have all the conviction that, only you can present the case of these oppressed tribals of Balochistan with same eloquence you have presented the case of the poor and oppressed Kashmiris who are crushed under Indian military boots everyday.
Khan of Kalat, ruler of Balochistan at the time of independence which is largest province of pakistan by geographical area wanted to remain independent but he was forced to aceede to Pakistan by Jinha with the thereat of military action and since then at least four to five major upsurges by Baloochi population against Pakistan government have taken place.
The most serious one was between 1973 to 1977 which was crushed with heavy military hand by Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. The most recent upsurge which started in 2004 was crushed by Gen. Pravez Mushraff by killing Nawab Akbar Bugati by attacking the place of his hiding in 2006 with helicopter gunships.
So once again my earnest appeal to you Ms Roy is please lend your voice to the cause of Baloochis who don't have any English speaking, charming and articulate spokesperson with international reach like you.
And I have full faith in your ability to give justice to oppressed Baloochis.
Sincerly Yours
MacroTheScribe
PS-I given brief hisotry of the Baloochis and their struggle in my letter, so that you should not be accused by your jaundiced critics, who are accusing you of not knowing the history of the country. I hope you will appreciate my feelings for doing so, though I know it unnecessarily increased the length of the letter and wasted your valuable time.

Ayodhya-sense and sensibilities

For this blog, I am going to get a flack from both Hindutvadi brigade and pseudo secularist clique but as a fierce nationalist I care dam. This is my space and I am going write exactly, what I want to.

After wasting lot of time in the legal wranglings, lot of blood on the streets and having futile debates in the newspapers and channels, our judiciary which will put even snail to shame has finally has arrived at some conclusion. Now we have to wait only for few days before our nation once again reaches boiling point.

I am proud to be Hindu but a Hindu who is agnostic (I don't need a certificate from anyone to be called Hindu and it doesn't matter whether I am believer, agnostic or atheist, nobody can question my right to be called as a Hindu, this feature of Hinduism makes me proud about my religion) feels that, I had my revenge against invading warriors like Babar with the destruction of the so called Babri Mosque.

Now it doesn't matter for me whether, you have there Ram temple, casino or brothel at the site.
But as a fierce nationalist, I believe, if we have to avoid the bloodshed which happened in the wake of Ramjanmabhoomi agitation in the late eighties and early nineties and keep the nation's growth story rolling on, more importantly we can't afford to have another internal strife when Kashmir is boiling, nation is fighting grim war against red terror of Naxals and we are being besieged by the neighbouring countries like China.

Then the only option we have is to create some kind of national monument as once suggested by Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thckeray.

The monument paying homage to Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, Rajguru, Chandrashekhar Azad, Ramprasad Bismil, Ashfaqullakhan and such other revolutionaries or a monument paying a tribute to the martyrs of 1857 will be also the apt one as Ayyodhya which is part of the Awadh province which was hotbed of the first war of independence or even idea of world class hospital like Delhi's AIIMS providing much needed health care facility to all communities of UttarPradesh who hardly have an access to such facilities is sensible.

I know this suggestion is idealistic but as an optimist I hope, this solution which is honourable to both the communities will be embraced by the both communities in larger national interest.

Kashmir-Himaliyan Blunders Continued

The biggest mistake India committed on the Kashmir front is not to refer the issue to UN and declare ceasefire or accepting the demand for plebiscite. However the biggest blunder was to accept the invitation of Maharaja Hari Singh and send the troops to Kashmir valley.
Although reluctantly our leaders accepted Jinha's theory of two nations and given consent to partition of India and the principal on which India was partitioned between India and Pakistan was religious majority. That's how Punjab and Bengal were divided.
Sighting the same principal, we did not allowed Nizam of Hydrabad and Nawab of Junhagarh were not allowed to join the Pakistan. So India had no legitimate claim whatsoever on Kashmir Valley. At the most it could have staked the claim on Jammu and Laddakh.
But once we accepted the invitation to send the troops to Kashmir, we left the business of occupying the Kashmir unfinished and created the trouble for ourselves, which we don't know, how to tackle, even after 63 years of Independence.
This also clearly shows, there was no well thought out strategy behind sending troops to Kashmir. There were no clear political objectives set by India's then rulers when they sent the troops to take on so called tribal militia. After all war is a diplomacy by other means.
When China decided to occupy Tibet, political objective was clear, it wanted to create buffer between itself and its mighty Western neighbour India (This may sound ridiculous in today's circumstances, but back then we were on the same page with China both in terms of economic and military might. In fact India's army was better trained and armed thanks to British rule).
Then another mistake we made was, we made no attempts to change the demography of Kashmir as China did with Tibet. In fact we went on to add Article 370 in the constitution and ensured weed of separatism never dies down in the valley.
Having said this, now only practical and honourable solution to both India and Pakistan to solve the problem is to accept the LOC as the international border and settle the issue for once. We were close to achieve this goal during Indira-Bhutto talks after the Bangladesh war but wasted the opportunity and allowed the enemy to go lightly like good Hindus.
But now, we must not waste any time and arrive at settlement on Kashmir issue at earliest and move on. We can't allow our nation to bleed and hamper our economic progress and more importantly, if we remain too preoccupied with Kashmir and Pakistan, we may never able to prepare ourselves to take on the next big challenge before us i.e. China.
